Printing and Scanning in the Cloud – Cloud Printing Solutions

Thinking about a moving towards a cloud solution soon? The process itself is relatively seamless, however,  preparing for unseen variables is always recommended.  Your company can be ready in a matter of days and the migration itself is painless as long as you have a reliable Internet Provider, updated desktops / laptops to access your Cloud and of course Cloud Ready Printers. Today I want to talk about Printing and Scanning in a cloud environment.

Printing and scanning in a cloud environment has proven to have it’s own share of headaches and frustrations. Quite honestly, there are some printers that simply don’t function in a hosted cloud environment. . We highly suggest upgrading your printers to those that have USB Wireless connections and Network capabilities. There is a work around with wireless printers in a cloud environment, however, redirected printing can be tempermental at times. We recommend replacing current printers that are more than 5 years old with devices that indicate they are “Cloud Ready”. Not to say that printers older than 5 years will not work in the cloud, rather they can prove to have random bugs and intermittent issues that can annoy anyone at the most inopportune time. Much like using a system running Windows XP or Vista.

The Cloud Solutions Team at OC Cloud9 recommends asking your future Cloud Solutions Provider to assess and test your existing printers and scanners BEFORE you migrate to the Cloud. This will help eliminate that frustrating call to your Cloud Solutions Provider when you are trying to work under a deadline. Not sure if a Cloud Solution is right for you or your company? Schedule a complimentary Cloud Readiness Assessment by contacting our main offices at (949) 699-6619 or click here.
